Lauren Torey is a 22-year-old mezzo-soprano from just outside of Toronto, Canada. Based in Manhattan, Torey recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Studies at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Elizabeth Bishop. Torey has been honing her craft as a vocalist for over 17 years. Some opportunities that she has had include solo recitals, concerts, liederabends, masterclasses, and cabaret performances at The Juilliard School; Choral performances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; A solo performance Off-Broadway with The Beginnings Workshop; Winner of Show Choir Canada 2019 with Etobicoke School of the Arts' Splash; and 2025 Resident Artist at the Glimmerglass Festival. Torey has been a part of the Shared Voices Cohort with the Denyce Graves Foundation and the lead singer for the Canadian band, Five of the Tee. She has performed at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, Roy Thomson Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Don't Tell Mama NYC.

Select opera credits at The Juilliard School include the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Mrs. Grose (cover) in Turn of the Screw, Thelma (cover) in John Musto’s Later the Same Evening, La Maestra (cover) in Suor Angelica, and the chorus of Les Dialogues des Carmelites, La Clemenza di Tito, Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, and Purcell’s King Arthur. Torey has also been a part of many musical productions including Therapist in Therapy (The Juilliard School), including Fiona in Shrek the Musical (Lower Ossington Theatre [LOT]); Golde in Fiddler on the Roof (Etobicoke School of the Arts); Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (Innovative Arts); The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (LOT); Serena Katz in Fame (First Act Youth Company [FAYC]); Snoopy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (PAVAS); 13: The Musical (FAYC); Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (PAVAS); Footloose (Innovative Arts).

Torey has trained as a dancer for the same amount of time that she has been singing. She began dancing when she was three years old. She was on the competitive dance team for seven years. Genres include tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, musical theatre, and Fosse. Torey continues her dance training in NYC at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center.

Along with dancing, Torey has theatrical training at Bongo Productions in Toronto, The Juilliard School, and Etobicoke School of the Arts. She is training in improvisational comedy at the PIT in NYC.
Torey is self-taught on several instruments, including the ukulele, guitar, piano, drums, saxophone, and mandolin. She also finds joy in songwriting. She has extensive training in music theory, music history, and ear training.

In addition to all of this, Torey is an avid tennis and volleyball player, golfer, and runner. She is a hobbyist painter, embroiderer, knitter, and puzzler in her free time.
